Once remaining approvals – including approval from the Catholic Church – are secured, SSM and MSMC hope to finalize the transaction July 30.

    | SSM Health Care Gives Bottles The Boot May 28, 2008 (ST. LOUIS) - SSM Health Care is doing its part to reduce, reuse and recycle. Beginning June 1, SSM will stop offering bottled water at its 20 facilities because of the environmental impact of making, transporting and disposing of the bottles. SSM is among the first health care organizations in the nation to eliminate bottled water usage at its facilities. The effort supports the stance of the Franciscan Sisters of Mary, the congregation that sponsors SSM Health Care, to "respect, appreciate and live in harmony with creation and direct our actions to preserve the earth."

    | MSMC Investors LLC and SSM Health Care Sign Deal That Will Keep St. Francis Hospital & Health Center Open May 8, 2008 (BLUE ISLAND, Ill.) - MSMC Investors LLC and SSM Health Care said today that they have signed an agreement to transfer ownership of St. Francis Hospital & Health Center from SSM to MSMC, ensuring that the hospital will remain open and continue to serve the city of Blue Island and surrounding communities. The agreement sets out the terms for the transfer of the 410-bed hospital, SSM Home Care at St. Francis and SSM Hospice at St. Francis to MSMC Investors LLC, which was created by Transition Healthcare Company and its financial backer, Falcon Investors LLC, as the holding company for the hospital and related health care assets.
